CT Tutorial for Aisha by Ishika Chowdhury

**This tutorial was written using Photoshop CC. I believe the instructions should work with various other versions, but they are not tested on any other version.  This tutorial is my own creation.  Any similarity to any other tutorial is not done purposely or knowingly (aside from the fact that the process is pretty similar in most tutorials).  If you do not know how to do some of the things I mention here (like mirroring an image, adding a drop shadow, resizing elements, etc.), check out my “Tips and Tricks” tutorial. **

Supplies:
PTU Tube – “Aisha” by Ishika Chowdhury

PTU Kit – “Travel to India” by MellieBeans

The tube comes as a free bonus when you purchase the kit from Mystical Scraps.

Mask – “Mask 06 – Fireball” by Aeval Amore.  Available on my blog, Aeval’s Art.

Abbreviations:
DS – Drop Shadow

Settings I use:
DS Settings - Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity set to 75%, Angle set to 120 degrees, Distance 5, Spread 0, Size 5

Ready…..Set….Tag!
Open Paper 02 in a new canvas.  Double click on the layer to unlock it.

Add the Mask to the canvas and resize if needed so it is the same size as the paper.  Then drag the mask layer below the paper layer.

With the mask layer selected, select all (Ctrl + A) and copy the entire canvas (Ctrl + C).  You will see dashed lines surround the canvas.

Click on the paper layer to activate it, then turn on quick mask (Press the Q key on your keyboard).  The dashed lines will disappear and that is ok.  Next Paste onto the paper (Ctrl + V) and turn your Quick Mask off (Q again).

You will now see a dotted outline of the mask on your paper.  Press the button on the bottom of layers side bar that is a rectangle with a circle cut out of it.  The mask will now show.

Right click on the paper layer and select Convert to Smart Image.  This releases just the mask.  The background layer of the mask will become invisible on its own.

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add the paper/mask combination from above to the working canvas.  Resize to fit the canvas.

Above the Mask layer, add four copies of Element 32, one in each corner of the tag.  I rotated some of mine to make the pattern more interesting. Add DS to each layer to create depth.

Add Element 24 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the mask size.  Position in center.  Add DS.

Add the close up of your tube and resize to fit in the frame above. From the menu bar select Edit > Transpose > Flip Horizontal to flip her so she is facing the opposite direction. Move the tube layer below the frame layer and use the eraser to erase any portion of the close up you don’t want to show or which hangs outside of the frame.

Add Element 21 to the canvas and move it below the tube layer.  Resize the flower to fill in the center of the frame area.  Add DS.

Add your tube to the canvas and make it your top layer.  Resize her so she fits on the canvas and position on the left side of the tag in front of the framed close up.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful Indian elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them to fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used.

Here are all the additional elements I used from the bottom layers.
  • Element 33
  • Element 28
  • Element 29
  • Element 23
  • Element 26
  • Element 11
  • Element 21
  • Element 38
  • Element 12
  • Element 22
  • Element 31
  • Element 10
Add your license and copyright info to the tag.

Add name and any other text of choice.

Save as PNG and go share with all your friends!

Thank you for trying my tut! I’d love to see how your tags turn out so if you like what you made, please post a copy here or show me on Facebook!

CT Tutorial for "Kat" by Ishika Chowdhury

**This tutorial was written using Photoshop CC. I believe the instructions should work with various other versions, but they are not tested on any other version.  This tutorial is my own creation.  Any similarity to any other tutorial is not done purposely or knowingly (aside from the fact that the process is pretty similar in most tutorials).  If you do not know how to do some of the things I mention here (like mirroring an image, adding a drop shadow, resizing elements, etc.), check out my “Tips and Tricks” tutorial. **

Supplies:
PTU Tube – “Kat” by Ishika Chowdhury

PTU Kit – “Kat in Autumn” by Creative Scraps by Crys

The tube and kit are available exclusively as a free gift from Mystical Scraps with any $10 purchase during September 2014.

Mask – “Mask 02 – Fluffy sky” by Aeval Amore.  Available on my blog, Aeval’s Art.

Abbreviations:
DS – Drop Shadow

Settings I use:
DS Settings - Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity set to 75%, Angle set to 120 degrees, Distance 5, Spread 0, Size 5

Ready…..Set….Tag!
Open Paper 1 in a new canvas.

Add Paper 5 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the entire canvas.  Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to select a section of the bottom of the tag. Inverse the selection (Shift + Ctrl + I). Right click on Paper 5 layer and select Rasterize Layer.  Press the delete key to delete the top paper from that section.  You now have a ground at the bottom of the tag. Use a rounded brush with the eraser tool and go around the edges of the ground to give it a soft outline.  Mover the ground you just created below the Mask layer.

Above the Mask layer, add multiple copies of Element 19 in multiples sizes overlapping each other to create a look of leaves covering the ground.  I used 9 different layers of the element and made one layer the width of the mask but varied the sizes of all the other layers and overlapped them.

Add Element 28 to the canvas.  Resize to fit between the ground layer and the top of the tag.  Position on the right side of the tag.  Add DS.

Add Element 1 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the width of the canvas.  Position in the middle in front of the tree.  Add DS.

Add Element 27 to the canvas.  Resize to fit half the canvas.  Position on the left side of the canvas.  Duplicate the layer and transpose it horizontally (Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal).  Move the duplicate layer to the right side of the canvas and line up the string so it looks like one continuous line of lights.  Add DS to both layers.

Add Element 24 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the width of the ground.  Position so it looks as though it is in front of the fence on the leaves.  Add DS.

Add your tube to the canvas.  Resize her so she fits on top of the bench and position to your liking.  Add DS.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful autumnal elements from the kit.

  • Element 20
  • Element 12 (x2)
  • Element 23 (x2)
  • Element 21 (x2)
  • Element 15 (x2)
  • Element 11 (x2)

Supplies:
PTU Tube – “Lynn” by Ishika Chowdhury.  This tube is available at Mystical Scraps.

PTU Kit – “Aquamarine Butterfly” by Amy Marie.  You can find all of Amy Marie’s beautiful kits for sale at her own store, Amy Marie’s Kits.

Mask – “Mask 11 – Blurry” by Aeval Amore.  Available on my blog, Aeval’s Art.

Abbreviations:
DS – Drop Shadow

Settings I use:
DS Settings - Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity set to 75%, Angle set to 120 degrees, Distance 5, Spread 0, Size 5

Ready…..Set….Tag!
Open Paper 18 in a new canvas.

Right click on the layer and select “Blending Options” select “Outer Glow” and click OK.  This will make the mask look as though sun is behind it.

Add Element 92 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the height of the canvas and position on the left side of the tag.  Add DS.

Add Element 43 to the canvas.  Resize to fit about half the width of the canvas and position in the upper right corner slightly overlapping the tree.  Right click on the element layer and select “Duplicate Layer”.  Move the duplicated layer to the left corner of the tag and stagger slightly below the original set of butterflies.  This makes it look like a swarm of butterflies is flying in front of the tree.

Add Element 40 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the width of the canvas.  Position at the bottom in front of the tree.

Add Element 21 to the canvas.  Resize to your liking and position in the upper right corner so it looks like the sun is shining over the butterflies.

Add Element 62 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the width of the grassy hill.  Position so it looks as though it is lying across the hill and resting on the top of it.

Add Element 8 to the canvas.  Resize so it is large enough to stand out.  Position on the left side of the hill in front of the vines you just put down.

Add your tube to the canvas.  Resize her so she fits on top of the grassy area and position her in the middle so it looks like she is sitting next to the curved flower stalk and relaxing in the sun.  To add a bit of “sun” to the tube, right click on the layer and select “Blending Options” turn on the “Inner Glow” options (leave the settings to default) and click ok.  This softens her outline and makes her blend in with the sunny background a bit more.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful elements from the kit.

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add Paper 05 to the canvas and move the layer below the frame.  Resize the paper to fill the center open portion of the canvas.

Add Element Sand to the canvas and resize to fit the width of the canvas.  Duplicate the element and flip it horizontally (Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal).  Stagger the two layers of sand so that most of the bottom section is covered.  Make sure any open spots in the sand layers have the “sand” paper behind it.

Add Element 73 to the canvas and resize to your liking and position the bubbles behind the mermaid.

Add Element 14 to the canvas and duplicate.  Spread the two layers apart so it looks like two schools of fish swimming by.

Switch to the tube psd canvas. Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to draw a box around the head of the poser in the psd file.  Copy (Ctrl + C) the selection and return to your working canvas.

On your working canvas make sure Element 62 layer is selected then paste (Ctrl + V) the copied selection.  Resize to fit the bubble.  Use the eraser tool to get rid of any bits outside the bubble.

Duplicate Element 62 and move the duplicated layer on top of the tube head layer so there is a bubble below the head and on top.  Select all three layers and right click on one of the layers and select “Link Layers”.  This will keep them locked together so if you move one of them the others will move with it.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful elements from the kit.

Here are all the elements I used from the bottom layers.

  • Element 48
  • Element 19 (x 10)
  • Element 83
  • Element 72
  • Element 26
  • Element 6 (x 3)
  • Element 8
  • Element 84
  • Element 70
At this point save your tag as a png file.  Open the png file in PS and run the Z(Burnt Edges) action.

After it is done. Add your license and copyright info to the tag.

Add name and any other text of choice.

Save as PNG and go share with all your friends!

Thank you for trying my tut! I’d love to see how your tags turn out so if you like what you made, please post a copy here or show me on Facebook!

CT Tutorial featuring "Candace" and "My Tropical Beach"

**This tutorial was written using Photoshop CC. I believe the instructions should work with various other versions, but they are not tested on any other version.  This tutorial is my own creation.  Any similarity to any other tutorial is not done purposely or knowingly (aside from the fact that the process is pretty similar in most tutorials).  If you do not know how to do some of the things I mention here (like mirroring an image, adding a drop shadow, resizing elements, etc.), check out my “Tips and Tricks” tutorial. **

Supplies:
PTU Tube – “Candace” by Ishika Chowdhury.  This tube is available in 6 different colors and a bonus layer of glitter to be used with any color all in one file at Mystical Scraps.

PTU Kit – “My Tropical Beach” by Crystals Creations.  You can find this summery kit for sale at D’zines from the Heart.

FTU Photoshop Action – “Z(Burnt Edges)” available for download from the Adobe Exchange website.

Abbreviations:
DS – Drop Shadow

Settings I use:
DS Settings - Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity set to 75%, Angle set to 120 degrees, Distance 5, Spread 0, Size 5

Ready…..Set….Tag!
Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add Paper 6 to the canvas and resize to fit entire canvas.

Add Element 20 to the canvas and resize to fit the width of the canvas.  Position the element about ¾ of the way down the canvas.

Add Element 31 to the bottom right corner.  Resize to fit the canvas.  Add DS.

Add Element 25 to the canvas.  Resize to fit width of canvas.  Duplicate the image and flip the duplicate horizontally (Menu command: Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal).   Move the original layer so it shows slightly above the duplicate.

Add your tube to the canvas.  Resize to fit and move the tube layer below the Element 25 layers.  Position her so she is in the middle of the sand hills.  Add DS.

Between the Element 25 layers:
  • Add Element 16.  Resize to your liking and position on the left side of the canvas. Add DS.
  • Add Element 3.  Resize to suit.  Position it so it is in front of the tube layer.  Add DS.
  • Add Element 28.  Resize to suit.  Position to the right of the canvas so it is showing above the sand dune.  Add DS.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful elements from the kit.
