CT Tutorial for PTU Kit "Sweet Life" by Marys Designs

**This tutorial was written using Photoshop CC. I believe the instructions should work with various other versions, but they are not tested on any other version.  This tutorial is my own creation.  Any similarity to any other tutorial is not done purposely or knowingly (aside from the fact that the process is pretty similar in most tutorials).  If you do not know how to do some of the things I mention here (like mirroring an image, adding a drop shadow, resizing elements, etc.), check out my “Tips and Tricks” tutorial. **

Supplies:
PTU Tube – “Individual Tube 32-3 Wind” by Anna Liwanag.  This tube is sold at Creative Design Outlet.

PTU Kit – “Sweet Life” by Marys Designs.  You can find this beautiful girly kit for sale at Sensibility Scrapping, Low Budget Scrapping, and Sweet-Pinup.

FTU Mask – “Mask 05 - Dreamscape” by Aeval Amore.  You can download this FTU mask from my blog, Aeval’s Art.

Abbreviations:
DS – Drop Shadow

Settings I use:
DS Settings - Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity set to 75%, Angle set to 120 degrees, Distance 5, Spread 0, Size 5

Ready…..Set….Tag!
Open Paper 1 in a new canvas.  Double click on the layer to unlock it.

Add the Mask to the canvas and resize if needed so it is the same size as the paper.  Then drag the mask layer below the paper layer.

With the mask layer selected, select all (Ctrl + A) and copy the entire canvas (Ctrl + C).  You will see dashed lines surround the canvas.

Click on the paper layer to activate it, then turn on quick mask (Press the Q key on your keyboard).  The dashed lines will disappear and that is ok.  Next Paste onto the paper (Ctrl + V) and turn your Quick Mask off (Q again).

You will now see a dotted outline of the mask on your paper.  Press the button on the bottom of layers side bar that is a rectangle with a circle cut out of it.  The mask will now show.

Right click on the paper layer and select Convert to Smart Image.  This releases just the mask.  The background layer of the mask will become invisible on its own.

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add the combined paper and mask from above to the canvas.  Resize to fit the canvas.

Add Frame 1 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the canvas and center.  Add DS.

Add Paper 4 to the canvas. Resize to fit over the opening in the frame in the element above.  Move the paper layer below the frame.  Use the eraser tool to erase any overhang of the paper showing outside of the frame.

Add Element 56 to the canvas and resize to fit the center of the frame.

Add Element 55 to the canvas.  Resize to fit so the heart appears to hang down from the top.  Add DS.

Add Paper 1 to the canvas. Resize to fit in the opening of the heart and move the paper below the heart layer.  Use the eraser tool to erase any overhang of the paper showing outside of the heart.  This is where the name will be added to the tag.

Add your poser to the canvas. Resize to fit the canvas.  Position her in the center of the canvas, overlapping the dangling heart and add DS.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the yummy elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them to fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used.

Here are all the additional elements I used from the bottom layers up:
  • Element 47 (x3)
  • Element 28
  • Element 88 (x2)
  • Element 59
  • Element 58
  • Element 54
  • Element 51
  • Element 112
  • Element 76
  • Element 26 (x2)
  • Element 12
Add your license and copyright info to the tag.

CT Tags for PTU Kit "Cafe de Paris" by Graphics of Fantasy

I'm very excited to showcase my very first CT Tags for the amazing designer Graphics of Fantasy.  These kits are always beautiful and have gorgeous elements and combinations to work with.  For my first kit I chose "Cafe de Paris".

In my first tag I opted for a casual Parisian street scene featuring a tube by Anna Liwanag.  The tube is available for purchase at Creative Design Outlet, it is Anna Liwanag Individual Tube 15-3.

For my second tag, I decided to a true Parisian cafe scene. This tag features an adorable kitten tube called "Little Cat Sin" also by Graphics of Fantasy.  Tube and kit can both be purchased from PicsForDesign or The Graphics of Fantasy Store.

Add the close up layer of your poser to your working canvas on top of the Paper 1 layer. Resize to fit the frame.  Right click on head layer and select “Create Clipping Mask” to get rid of any bits outside the paper.  Right click on the head layer and select Blending Options.  Change Blend mode to Hard Light to get the faded effect shown in the tag.

Supplies:
Kit- “February” by Bookworm Dezines which can be purchased from PicsForDesign, or Inspirations of Scraps Friends.

Tube – 15-2 Rose by Anna Liwanag available for purchase at Creative Design Outlet.

Abbreviations:
DS – Drop Shadow

Settings I use:
DS Settings - Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity set to 75%, Angle set to 120 degrees, Distance 5, Spread 0, Size 5

Ready…..Set….Tag!
Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add Element 39 to your canvas.  Resize to fit the entire canvas and position in the middle.  Add DS.

Add Paper 7 to the canvas below the frame.  Resize so that the entire open portion of the frame has paper under it.

Add the Rose 2 layer of your tube to the working canvas.  Resize her so she fits on the right hand side of open area inside the frame.  Add DS

Add a new layer to the bottom.  Select a sky blue color and use a watercolor brush to add blue tint to the sides coming out from behind the frame.

Add Element 22 to the left side of the canvas.  Resize so it stretches the length of the canvas.  The majority of the curl will be hidden by the paper, but tendrils should show on the side.  Add DS.

Duplicate the Element 22 layer and flip it horizontally.  Drag it over to the right side of the canvas so tendrils are showing on that side too.

Above the paper layer, add the following elements to dress up the background of the painting.  Resize each to fit within the frame behind the poser layer.
  • Element 12
  • Element 21
  • Element 20
  • Element 40
  • Element 32
  • Element 44
  • Element 33
  • Element 7
  • Element 6

On top of the frame add Element 25.  Resize to fit the right lower corner of the frame.  Add DS.

Add the CU view of the poser and resize to fit on the face of the brooch.  Add DS.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them so fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used.
