CT Tutorial for PTU Rose3 and Gothique Touch

**This tutorial was written using Photoshop CC. I believe the instructions should work with various other versions, but they are not tested on any other version.  This tutorial is my own creation.  Any similarity to any other tutorial is not done purposely or knowingly (aside from the fact that the process is pretty similar in most tutorials).  If you do not know how to do some of the things I mention here (like mirroring an image, adding a drop shadow, resizing elements, etc.), check out my “Tips and Tricks” tutorial. **

Supplies:

PTU Poser – “Rose3” by English Rose Designs.  You can purchase this elegant beauty at her store, English Rose Designs.

PTU Kit- “Gothique Touch” by Whispy's D'zines.  You can purchase this kit at Whisprd Designz, Treasured Scraps, Mystical Scraps, and D’zines From The Heart.

 

FTU Template – “TEMP-6” by Addictive Pleasures.  You can download the template from the Addictive Pleasures Templates blog (download TEMPS 6-10 link and it is in the bundle).

FTU Mask – “Mask 14 - Circles” by Aeval Amore.  You can download the mask on my blog, Aeval’s Art.

Abbreviations:

DS – Drop Shadow

Settings I use:

DS Settings - Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity set to 75%, Angle set to 120 degrees, Distance 5, Spread 0, Size 5

Ready…..Set….Tag!

Create your background mask:

Open paper 12 in a new canvas.  Double click on the layer to unlock it.

Add the Mask to the canvas and resize if needed so it is the same size as the paper.  Then drag the mask layer below the paper layer.

With the mask layer selected, select all (Ctrl + A) and copy the entire canvas (Ctrl + C).  You will see dashed lines surround the canvas. 

Click on the paper layer to activate it, then turn on quick mask (Press the Q key on your keyboard).  The dashed lines will disappear and that is ok.  Next Paste onto the paper (Ctrl + V) and turn your Quick Mask off (Q again). 

You will now see a dotted outline of the mask on your paper.  Press the button on the bottom of layers side bar that is a rectangle with a circle cut out of it.  The mask will now show. 

Right click on the paper layer and select Convert to Smart Image.  This releases just the mask.

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add the paper/mask combination from above to the working canvas.  Resize to fit the canvas.

Decorate your template pieces:

Open up the PSD file for the template. 

When working with a template, the first thing I do is figure out if I am going to cover the layers with papers or styles and then apply all of them from the bottom up.  For this template I used a clipping mask to apply papers.  (If you do not know how to use the clipping mask feature in Photoshop, you can check out my tutorial here on how to use them:  http://aevalsart.blogspot.com/2014/02/how-to-make-clipping-mask.html).

The layers below I used a clipping mask with the specified papers (from bottom layer up): 

• Rectangle – Paper 1
• Copy of square background – Paper 3
• Square frame – Paper 6
• Strip – Paper 12
• Square background – Paper 4
• Square frame 2 – Paper 7
• Circle – Paper 5
• Strip 2 – Paper 15
• Circle frame – Paper 11
• Rectangle 2 – Paper 8
• Rectangle 3 – Paper 10

I applied complimenting styles to the following layers:

• Raster 1
• Raster 2
• THE LOOK
• Shes got

I deleted these layers of the template:

• Raster 10
• Square background
• Copyright layer

After applying the papers and styles, use Alt+Ctrl+A and select all layers.  Copy and paste them onto your mask layer on your working canvas.  With all template layers selected, resize to fit the canvas.

Add your poser/tubes to canvas:

Add your poser to the canvas.  Resize her so she fits in the canvas on the left side on top of all the template layers. Add DS.

Open the psd file of your poser you want to use for the close-up, use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to draw a box around the top half of the poser.  Copy (Ctrl + C) the selection and return to your working canvas.

On your working canvas make sure the Paper 15 layer is selected then paste (Ctrl + V) the copied selection.  Resize the selection so that poser’s head fits to your satisfaction in the middle of the circle.  Reposition the head until you like how it appears.  Add DS.  Use the eraser tool to erase any of the poser layer showing outside of the area you want it to display in.

Open the psd file of your poser you want to use for the smaller head shot in the upper right corner, use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to draw a box around the top half of the poser.  Copy (Ctrl + C) the selection and return to your working canvas.

On your working canvas make sure the Paper 4 layer is selected then paste (Ctrl + V) the copied selection.  Resize the selection so that poser’s head fits to your satisfaction in the middle of the circle.  Reposition the head until you like how it appears.  You may need to rotate the head using the Free Rotate tool (Ctrl + T). Use the eraser tool to erase any of the poser layer showing outside of the area you want it to display in.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Decorate the tag:

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them so fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used. 

Here are all the additional elements I used from the bottom layers up (although they are sometimes in between layers of the template for better impact).

• Element 21

Add your license and copyright info to the tag.

Add name and any other text of choice.

CT Tutorial for Emo Emma and Emolicious

Supplies:

PTU Poser – “Emo Emma” by Celtic Bairns.  This poser comes with 10 different poses all in one file.  You can purchase this cutie at Treasured Scraps, Berry Applicious, or Digi Fox’s Studio.

PTU Kit – “Emolicious” by Kai Kreations.  You can find this magical kit for sale at Digi Fox’s Studio, Berry Applicious , Sensibility Scrapping, Mischief Desigz, or Scraps N Company.

 

Abbreviations:

DS – Drop Shadow

Settings I use:

Ready…..Set….Tag!

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add Element 33 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the width of the canvas. Position at the top of the canvas.

Add Paper 3 to the canvas.  Move it below the Element 33 layer.  Resize to fit the width of the window.  Use the rectangular marquee tool to select the upper part of the canvas behind the window.  Make sure the paper layer is selected.  Right click on the paper and select “Rasterize Layer”.  Then hit the delete button to erase the portion of the paper in the selected area.  This makes it look as though it is carpet.

Add Paper 4 to the canvas.  Move it below the Paper 3 layer.  Resize to fit the width of the window.  This will make it look like there is a pink sky outside the window.

Add Element 52 to the canvas.  Resize it to fit the width of the canvas and position on top of the carpet area.

Add one of the gumdrop poses to the canvas below the window element.  Position it so she looks like she is playing outside and can be viewed through the window.

Add Element 34 to the canvas and resize to fit proportionally.  Position in front of the right side of the window.  Add DS.

Add Element 30 to the canvas and resize to fit proportionally.  Position beside the table.  Add DS.

Add another of the gumdrop poses to the canvas, this time position in front of the table.  Add DS.

Add Frame 1 to the canvas and resize to fit in the lower left corner.  Add DS.

Add Paper 6 to the canvas and move it below the frame layer.  Resize so that the opening in the frame is completely filled with the paper.  Use the erase tool to erase any overhang.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them to fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used.

CT Tutorial featuring "Candace" and "My Tropical Beach"

Supplies:

PTU Tube – “Candace” by Ishika Chowdhury.  This tube is available in 6 different colors and a bonus layer of glitter to be used with any color all in one file at Mystical Scraps.

PTU Kit – “My Tropical Beach” by Crystals Creations.  You can find this summery kit for sale at D’zines from the Heart.

FTU Photoshop Action – “Z(Burnt Edges)” available for download from the Adobe Exchange website.

Abbreviations:

Settings I use:

Ready…..Set….Tag!

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add Paper 6 to the canvas and resize to fit entire canvas.

Add Element 20 to the canvas and resize to fit the width of the canvas.  Position the element about ¾ of the way down the canvas.

Add Element 31 to the bottom right corner.  Resize to fit the canvas.  Add DS.

Add Element 25 to the canvas.  Resize to fit width of canvas.  Duplicate the image and flip the duplicate horizontally (Menu command: Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal).   Move the original layer so it shows slightly above the duplicate.

Add your tube to the canvas.  Resize to fit and move the tube layer below the Element 25 layers.  Position her so she is in the middle of the sand hills.  Add DS.

Between the Element 25 layers: 

• Add Element 16.  Resize to your liking and position on the left side of the canvas. Add DS.
• Add Element 3.  Resize to suit.  Position it so it is in front of the tube layer.  Add DS.
• Add Element 28.  Resize to suit.  Position to the right of the canvas so it is showing above the sand dune.  Add DS.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them to fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used. 

Here are all the elements I used from the bottom layers.

Add Element 48 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the width of the canvas.  Position to line up with the middle stripe on the cement tiles.

Add Element 5 to the canvas.  Resize to your liking and position in the lower left corner.  Duplicate layer and position the duplicate layer in the right corner.  Leave the brown pattern strip of the brown tile floor showing.

Add Element 16 to the canvas.  Resize to fit on the wall on the right side of the entry.  Add DS.

Add Element 68 to the canvas.  Resize to fit in the left corner on the sand.  Add DS.

Add your tube and resize to fit on the canvas.  Positioned on the left side of the canvas under the umbrella.  Add DS.  To get the tanner look, duplicate the tube.  Right click on the duplicate layer and Clear Layer Style.  From the menu Select Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur.  Change the Radius to 2.0 pixels and click OK.  Right click on the layer and Select Blending Options.  Change the Blend Mode to Soft Light.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the elegant elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them so fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used.

PTU Kit- “Dangerous Babe” by Disturbed Scraps.  Available at Scraps N Company.

PTU Poser – “Nicolette” by Designs by Norella.  You can purchase the tubes at PicsForDesign.

Abbreviations:

Settings I use:

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add Element 090 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the canvas.  Add DS.

Add Paper 01 behind the element and resize it to ensure the hole in the wall is covered. 

Add Element 051 to the canvas.  Resize to about three times the original size.  Position so it mostly showing through the hole in the wall on the left side.  Add DS.

Add Element 042 to the canvas.  Resize to about three times the original size.  Position so it mostly showing through the hole in the wall on the right side.  Add DS.

Switch to the PSD file of your tube. Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to draw a box around the top half of the poser.  Copy (Ctrl + C) the selection and return to your working canvas.

On your working canvas make sure the paper 01 layer is selected then paste (Ctrl + V) the copied selection.  Resize the selection so that the top half fits to your satisfaction in the center of the hole in the wall. 

Add Element 089 to the canvas and resize the element the width of the wall.  Add DS.

Add your tube and resize to fit on the canvas.  Positioned on the left side of the canvas.  Add DS.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the hot elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them so fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used.

PTU Kit- “Welcome Spring” by Tootypup Scraps.  Available at Twilight Scraps.

Abbreviations:

Settings I use:

DS Settings - Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity set to 75%, Angle set to 120 degrees, Distance 5, Spread 0, Size 5

Ready…..Set….Tag!

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add cameoframe3 to the canvas and resize to fit most of the canvas. Position in center.  Add DS.

Add your poser to the canvas.  Resize her so she fits on the left side of the canvas. Flip her horizontally (Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontally). Add DS. 

Switch to the PSD file of your tube. Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool to draw a box around the top half of the poser.  Copy (Ctrl + C) the selection and return to your working canvas.

On your working canvas make sure the cameoframe3 layer is selected then paste (Ctrl + V) the copied selection.  Resize the selection so that the top half fits to your satisfaction in the center of the frame.  Use the Eraser tool to erase any overhang of the pasted layer.  Right click on the layer and select “Blending Options”.  Change the Blend Mode to Color burn to get the softened faded effect.

Add daisyvine4 to the canvas.  Rotate the element and resize to fit along the right side of the frame. 

Add cornerdeco7 to the canvas.  Resize and position to fit the lower left corner of the frame.  Add DS.

Add cluster3 to the canvas.  Resize and position to fit across the bottom of the frame.  Add DS.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them so fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used.

Using papers 7, 9, and 11 combine each one with the mask template to create a mask background.  If you do not know how to combine masks and papers you can learn how with my mask tutorial.

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add the brown layer mask to the canvas and resize to fit the canvas.

Next add the white layer mask and size it slightly smaller than the first.

Finally add the pink layer mask and size it slightly smaller than the white one.

Add Element 24 to the canvas.  Resize to your liking and position left of center on the working canvas. Add DS.

Add the tube to your canvas.  Resize and position to the left of the ice cream cart.  Add DS.

Add Element 31 to the canvas.  Resize to fit in the left lower corner.  Add DS.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Abbreviations:

DS – Drop Shadow

Settings I use:

DS Settings - Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity set to 75%, Angle set to 120 degrees, Distance 5, Spread 0, Size 5

Ready…..Set….Tag!

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Follow the instructions in this tutorial to combine Paper 11 and the mask.

Once the mask is ready, add the final result to the working canvas and resize to fit.

Add Element 83 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the entire width of the canvas and position in center.  Add DS.

Add Element 67 to the canvas.  Resize to about 187% and position in the center of the canvas.  Add DS.

Add Element 73 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the canvas and position in center in front of the heart.  Add DS.

Add the poser to your canvas.  Resize her to fit the canvas and position her so she standing in front of the canvas on the right side.  Add DS.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them so fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used. 

Here are all the elements I used from the bottom layers up.

Add your license and copyright info to the tag.

Add name and any other text of choice.

CT Tutorial for PTU Kit "Starlit Love" by Bookworm Dezines

**This tutorial was written using Photoshop CC. I believe the instructions should work with various other versions, but they are not tested on any other version.  This tutorial is my own creation.  Any similarity to any other tutorial is not done purposely or knowingly (aside from the fact that the process is pretty similar in most tutorials).  If you do not know how to do some of the things I mention here (like mirroring an image, adding a drop shadow, resizing elements, etc.), check out my “Tips and Tricks” tutorial. **

Supplies:

PTU Kit- “Starlit Love” by Bookworm Dezines which can be purchased from PicsForDesign, or Inspirations of Scraps Friends.

PTU Tube – 11-2 Scarlet Masquerade by Enamorte available for purchase at Creative Design Outlet.

Add Element 6 to the canvas. Resize to fit the center of the canvas.  Add DS.

Add your poser to the canvas.  Resize her so she fits on the right side of the canvas and overlaps the heart. Add DS.

Add Element 10 to the canvas and resize it to fit the width of the canvas. Add DS.  Move the layer to the bottom.  The next several elements will be added between this layer and the heart.

Add Element 70 to the canvas and resize to suit.  Position so the hearts peek out from behind the left bottom corner of the heart.  Add DS.

Add Element 24 to the canvas and position so it is slightly above the left side of the heart.  Add DS.  Duplicate image and flip it horizontally and move the duplicate behind the other side of the heart. 

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.

Now decorate your tag with any of the beautiful elements from the kit.  Resize the elements as you add them so fit the proportions of your tag.  Experiment with rotating them and mirroring them for more variety.  In addition duplicate elements and use multiple times to fill in holes and add more pizzazz.  In this tutorial to indicate when I used more than one of the same element I will add (X#) by the name to indicate how many versions of the element I used.

CT Tutorial for PTU Kit "Gothic Maiden" by Disturbed Scraps

**This tutorial was written using Photoshop CC. I believe the instructions should work with various other versions, but they are not tested on any other version.  This tutorial is my own creation.  Any similarity to any other tutorial is not done purposely or knowingly (aside from the fact that the process is pretty similar in most tutorials).  If you do not know how to do some of the things I mention here (like mirroring an image, adding a drop shadow, resizing elements, etc.), check out my “Tips and Tricks” tutorial. **

Supplies:

PTU Kit- “Gothic Maiden” by Disturbed Scraps.  Available at Scraps N Company.

PTU Tube – “Gothic” by Andy Cooper.  You can purchase the tubes at Scraps N Company.

Mask – “Mask 03 – Jagged” by Aeval Amore.  Available on my blog, Aeval’s Art.

Open a new canvas (Ctrl +N) 700 x 700, transparent background.  This will be referred to as the working canvas in my directions when switching between canvases.

Add Paper 14 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the entire canvas.

Add the Mask to the canvas and resize if needed so it is the same size as the working canvas.  Then drag the mask layer below the paper layer.

With the mask layer selected, select all (Ctrl + A) and copy the entire canvas (Ctrl + C).  You will see dashed lines surround the canvas. 

Click on the paper layer to activate it, then turn on quick mask (Press the Q key on your keyboard).  The dashed lines will disappear and that is ok.  Next Paste onto the paper (Ctrl + V) and turn your Quick Mask off (Q again). 

You will now see a dotted outline of the mask on your paper.  Press the button on the bottom of layers side bar that is a rectangle with a circle cut out of it.  The mask will now show. 

Make the original mask layer invisible.

Add Element 25 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the width and position at the bottom of the canvas.

Add Element 83 to the canvas and position on the right side of the canvas.  Duplicate layer and flip it horizontally (instructions for this can be found on the following “Tips and Tricks” tutorial).  Drag the duplicate layer below the original layer and position it on the left side of the canvas.

Add Element 86 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the width and position on the bottom of the canvas.  Add DS.

Add Element 71 to the canvas.  Resize to fit the width of the canvas.  Add DS.

Add Element 106 to the canvas and resize to overlay most of the canvas from the left upper corner.  Add DS.

Add Paper 6 behind the frame and resize it to ensure the center section is covered.  Use the eraser tool to erase any of the paper that is outside of the area you want covered.

Add Element 69 to the canvas.  Resize and position so it on the left side overlapping the center of the frame and the paper under it.  Add DS.

Add your tube and resize to fit on the canvas.  Positioned on the right side of the canvas.  Add DS.

Voila!  The focal point of your tag is now created.
